1. Maintain a thorough knowledge of national, international and Company regulations affecting the Navigation and/or Flight Dispatch functions in general, and Gulf Air operations in particular.
2. Maintain a high level of awareness regarding industry developments and future directions as they affect the airline Navigation and/or Flight Dispatch function in general and Gulf Air operations in particular.
3. Collect pre- and post-flight operational data regarding payload, flight times and fuel uplift and consumption, and the dissemination of data to concerned parties to permit the analysis of trends, and the identification and rectification of issues (e.g.: excessive fuel uplift without justification).
4. Ensure the compliance of all Regulatory publications, State AIPs, AICs, Sups and NOTAMs, together with any other related publication having the potential to affect GF flight planning activities.
5. In conjunction with the Head of Flight Operations Support, and/or Executive Management, research, develop, aid and/or recommend in the formulation of short and long term policy, operational objectives (incl. where necessary, limitations) - translating same into departmental procedures, functions and standards.
6. Review the efficiency of the Navigation Section to ensure established objectives are achieved, and policies observed.
7. Maintain close liaisons with the internal GF departments and external agencies with whom Gulf Air Navigation Services interacts.
8. Set the example for all departmental staff to maintain a focus on high standards of safety, operational efficiency and reliability by providing leadership and direction, and promoting professional, ethical work practices, personal integrity within a harmonious working environment.
9. Prepare annual operating budgets which include operating expenses, outstations, training, and capital expenditure. Monitor the same, and report deviations from estimated expenditure.
10. Oversight and direct all aspects of the supervision of Navigation Services staff in accordance with Gulf Air policy and the applicable laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, including (but not limited to):
- Interviewing and hiring, including minimum qualifications
- Planning, assigning and directing work
- Initial and recurrent training programmes
- Appraisal of performance
- Rewarding and disciplining staff
- Promotions and pay scales
- Addressing complaints
- Resolving conflicts and problems
- Termination procedures
11. Represent the interests of Gulf Air at industry workshops, conferences and meetings.
12. Undertake other duties and projects as directed.
