Under direct supervision, responsible for monitoring, controlling and/or setting-up computer resources in accordance with established procedures within a Data Center.
Monitors activities and performance of all IT systems and applications effectively utilizing software tools.
Diagnoses and documents system problems and coordinates problem resolution with System Engineers, DBAs, vendors and support groups. Ensures abends are reported in a timely manner. Tracks and follows-up on reported abends. Escalates issues when necessary.
Monitor activity & performance of servers and other IT equipment through various tools & report on any issues to support groups. Troubleshoots issues that may cause system outages. Initiates corrective action promptly. Interfaces with necessary customers and/or business support groups and escalates issues to appropriate persons accordingly.
Receive, monitor and process all batch processing tasks for failures and scheduling problems jobs in IT environments.
Execution of all backup and recovery tasks for various Operating Systems, applications and Databases as per engineers & DBAs procedures/instructions.
Recycling, defragmenting & other house keeping activities on all IT servers and equipment in the Data Center.
Execute all Data & File Transfer activities as per procedures.
Verify existing procedures for relevancy and accuracy.
Monitor and verify the UPS, Fire Alarms, Generators, Air conditioning functional in Data Center. Monitors the physical environment in which computer systems are housed. Ensures the security of the environment, and that the environment is adequate for optimal system performance. If not, jobholder must co-ordinate with support groups to get them working.
Act as first level Service Desk support at times to solve certain technical and/or customer problems within scope of defined standards.
Maintain on call / call out Logs for various on-call engineers.
Collect SLA data from various systems/applications as per SLA requirements and procedures.
Receive, pursue, analyze and resolve requests or problems related to all IT operational issues in co-ordination with Help Desk & Network Control sections.
Act on and complete Service Desk Incident Modification Requests (IMRs) or tickets related to Data Center Operations activities.
Create & maintain all documentations, schematics etc., related to both computer rooms.
Perform certain adhoc Operations related tasks as and when required.
